Drinking More Water Associated With Numerous Dietary Benefits
A new study has examined the dietary habits of more than 18,300 US adults,and found the majority of the people who increased their consumption of plain water by 1 percent reduced their total daily calorie intake as well as their consumption of saturated fat, sugar,sodium and cholesterol.Mostly for people who want to control their weight or reduce their intakes of sugar,sodium and saturated fat,tap water may be what the doctor ordered.
A new study that examined the dietary habits of more than 18,300 U.S adults found the majority of people who increased their consumption of plain water -tap water or from the cooler,drinking fountain or bottle water-by 1 percent reduced their total daily calorie intake as well as their consumption of saturated fat,sugar,sodium and cholesterol.
People who increased their consumption of water by one,two or three cups daily decreased their total energy intake by 68 to 205 calories daily and their sodium intake by 78 to 235 milligrams,according to a paper by university of Illinois Kinesiology and community health professor Ruopeng An.They also consumed 5 grams to nearly 18 grams less sugar and decreased their cholesterol consumption by 7 to 21 milligrams daily.
"The impact of plain water intake on diet was similar across race/ethnicity,education and income levels and body weight status, "An said."This finding indicates that it might be sufficient to design and deliver universal nutrition interventions and education campaigns that promote plain water consumption in replacement of beverages with calories in diverse population subgroups without profound concerns about message and strategy customization.
An examined data from four waves (2005-12) of the National Health and Nutrition Examination survey,conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics.Participants were asked to recall everything they ate or drank over the course of two days that were three to 10 days apart.
An,calculated the amount of plain water each person consumed as a percentage of their daily dietary water intake from food and beverages combined.Beverages such as unsweetened black tea,herbal tea and coffee were not counted as sources of plain water,but their water content was included in An's calculations of participants' total dietary water consumption.
On average,participants consumed about 4.2 cups of plain water on daily basis,accounting for slightly more than 30% of their total dietary water intake.Participants' average calorie intake was 2,157 calories,including 125 calories from sugar-sweetened beverages and 432 calories from discretionary foods,which are low-nutrition,calorie-dense foods such as desserts,pastries and snack mixes that add variety to but are not necessary for a healthy diet.
All small but statistically significant 1 percent increase in participants' daily consumption of plain water was associated with an 8.6 calorie decrease in daily energy intake of sugar sweetened beverages and discretionary foods along with their consumption of fat,sugar,sodium and cholesterol.
With An found that the decrease were greater among men and among young and middle-aged adults,he suggested they could have been associated with these groups' higher daily calorie intakes.
The study was published in the journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics.

THE TRAGEDY OF EBOLA IN THE WESTERN AFRICA

December 2013,the western parts of Africa was said to have been
challenged by a deadly virus which according to World Health
Organization (WHO) referred to as Ebola.The outbreak,was the largest
ever reported both in term of the number of cases and the geographic
spread.It was also the first time Ebola had spread to large cities and
outside Africa.Unlike New Zealand,the countries affected by the outbreak of the deadly virus in West Africa has unconscious and ill health systems.This made diagnosing cases of Ebola,isolation of infected victims and prevention and control of the disease intractable.
The victims carrying the disease attempted to seek refuge and sanctuary in their neigbouring developed countries but traveling and entering restrictions was imposed at borders of every countries of the world.The pandemic war of Ebola virus led to closure of schoolsin the affected West African countries.Shocking of hands became to left people perturbed of contacting the devastative disease even in Liberia where shocking is their heritage.
"On my visit to a Nigeria bank,it was mandated to wash our hands before we could gain entry into the bank" reported by Clifford King.All kinds of precautions was inscribed at schools,offices,banks to prevent contamination of the deadly virus.Warnings and admonitions was served to dissuade from consuming bush meats.
According to the United Nations Population Fund,at least 18,000 teenagers became pegnant during Ebola in Sierra Leone.In late 2013,the country had one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in teh world.The hike in teenage pregnancy is being attributed to disruption of already fragile health systems including family planning and birth control.

On November 10 2015,Sierra Leone was pronounced free and established control measures.
On December 29 2015,Guinea was pronounced free and established control measures.
Transmission in Urban areas indicates the potential for spread through international air travel.Control measures in these countries are considered to be uncertain because of the inability of public health authorities to identify,locate,or monitor a large population of potential contacts.
OPINION:The Decline In Girl-Child Education
According to a recent UNICEF data,in Nigeria,women and girls constitute 60% of the illiterate population.Similarly, a 2005 UNICEF records also showed that 4.7million Nigeria children were out of school,out of which 60% were females.Yet another UNICEF data revealed that about 10.5million Nigeria of school age were out of school in 2015 out of which 65% fall into the female category.
Without doubt,the girl-child faces tough time in terms getting un-hindered access to education.Ironically,in any society,education remains a vital tool through which the citizenry could positively contribute to national development or nation bulding.It is on the basis of this conviction that our founding fathers gave prominent attention to education.They had the foresight to realize that desired high quality workforce,an enlightened citizenry,without which national development is impossible,could only be guaranteed by investing in education.
Unfortunately,in our nation today,it is this fundamental means for personal growth and societal advancement that the Nigerian girl-child is frustrated in securing.The benefits accruable to the girl-child if properly educated are,no doubt enomous.For one,good education could easily translate into increase in the number of ladies with the prospect of securing high profile jobs as well as higher earnings.Consequently,young ladies and women could become productive and able to live independent lives,without necessarily being burdens to others.They wouldn't have to depend on anyone before they could access the basic necessities of life.
Perhaps,more importantly,they won't have to endure the pain of being side-tracked when it comes to taking parts in vital nation building process.The implication of this is that they could become productive professionals in any field,thereby contributing their own quota to national development.With good education,they could get involved in the political process and make huge impact in public governance as being experienced in Germany and Brazil.Similarly,in the area of birth control,the educated female,due to the knowledge she had gotten in school would have been matured and ripe enough by the time she decided to get married.She also would know the health and economic benefits of family planning.Through this,she would be able to give birth to fewer but healthier children.This is the sharp contrast of the uneducated ones who do not understand the real essence of family planning;thereby giving birth to underfed and unhealthy children.
Also,an educated woman would have good knowledge of critical issues relating to life threating diseases such as HIV/AIDS and the various ways by which they could be prevented.She would also share her knowledge as regards the virus with others and help those that have contracted it to live a stable life.She would also help to guide against stigmatization and help makes the world better place to live in.Educated women will be familiar with medical routines concerning themselves and their families,without being pushed to do so.
Considering the huge benefits that the girl-child tends to amassthrough unconstrained access to education,it is,therefore,very sad that a large proportion of them are denied access to education in our nation.The reasons for this sad reality are numerous and at the same time very complicated.Perhaps,the most pathetic of this is early marriage.Child marriage is a condemable act,commonly practised in some parts of the country.
By international conventions,18 years has been enacted as the legal age of consent to marriage.In Nigeria,the Child Rights Act,passed in 2003,raised the minimum age of marriage to 18 for girls,but in the northern part of the country which has some of the highest rate for early marriage in the world,48% of girls are married out as early as 15 years and below.This is due to the fact that since federal law may be implemented differently at the state level,only few states have begun developing provisions to execute the law.
Poverty occasioned by severe economic hardship,ignorance,influence of traditional belief and customs,bad government policies among others are some other factors that are responsible for the decline in girl-child education in the country.
The way out is for government to improve the nation's economy and banish poverty from the land.Equally,there is need for strategic public enlightenment campaigns specifically designed to get the girl-child back in school.All stakeholders such as faith-based bodies,traditional institutions,government agencies,child right advocates,the media and NGOS should be involved in this unrestricted growth across all sectors,this is the time to decisively address the issue of decline in girl-child education in the country

WHAT MAKES HILLARY CLINTONS LOSE AGAINST DONALD TRUMP.
Of course, the US election between the Republican and the Democrats has come and gone.Although it takes other way out that many people could not have imagine the outcome and result of the elections.The US elections was participated by every countries of the world.Although the election was conducted in the United States alone.This is one of the toughest elections Americans would have experienced and i undoubtedly believed they would have learned some lessons.
Everyone would have expected Hillary Clinton to had take the lead and worn the elections but unexpectedly victory was given to Donald Trump.Majority fears the unadopted acts of Trump and that is why most top celebrities pledge their solidarities to Clinton.So top Officials of the Obama present administration also gave their indomitable and unflinching support to Clinton.But despite the facts and figures of their supports solicited by Hillary,one may continue to ask and baffles the result.
We must state those reasons why Hillary Clinton lose to Donald Trump.
1) Many of Clinton supporters failed to trooped out en-mass to cast their votes.Their thoughts was divided that both contestants were almost the same.They thoughts Clinton took lead at every presidential debates they attended too and that should had given her 30% of American votes.Clinton herself relent on her supporters thinking that was the end for Donald Trump.
2) Hillary with her suppoters indulged on several critics against Trump.This made some patriotic Americans to have a change of mind as Trump continues to convinced their souls.Although some of them would have wished to vote for Clinton but all they want is Trump.
Following the elections,some of Clinton supporters took to the streets of America to stage all kind of protest.Some started to gain fear surrounding the emergence of Trump against Clinton.Donald in his speech earlier said his administration will treat Americans as one to continue to make America great.
